The situation in the country has become tense due to the violent protests against the government in France. There have been arson, looting and clashes between protesters and police in many cities, including Paris. In this background, US President Donald Trump has strongly criticized the immigration policy of French President Emmanuel Macron. Claiming that the increasing number of immigrants has created instability in France, Trump has also made controversial statements about the future of Paris.
Responding to the violence in France, Trump questioned Macron's immigration policy. “Paris will soon become a Muslim city, and this was not expected,” he said. Trump claimed that France has allowed a large number of immigrants from all over the world, and its serious consequences are now visible. He also appealed to France to close its borders and take a tough stance on immigration.
The French government has imposed local curfews and restrictions in several cities in response to arson, looting and damage to public property during the protests. Restrictions have been imposed in cities like Paris, Lille and Nice. Demonstrations have been banned in some parts of Paris from 8pm onwards, while a curfew has been imposed in the Place de la Republique and Les Alles areas from 11pm to 6am. In some cities, minors have also been banned from roaming around at night.
According to the French Interior Ministry, about 2,400 people have been arrested and about 1,000 police officers have been injured in the violence. A protestor also died of a heart attack during the protest. The trade association said about 3,000 shops across the country were affected by the violence. A historic municipal building was also set on fire in the city of Limoges in central France.
Meanwhile, President Macron has condemned violence and damage to public property. He has said that the demands of peaceful protesters should not be confused with the actions of those inciting violence. According to reports, protests are also increasing due to rising inflation, cost of living and unhappiness with school facilities.
