Bhagwant Mann stopped for 3 hours at Delhi airport

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has alleged that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was detained for three hours at the Delhi airport after returning from a Paris tour and was fined Rs 50,000. The party also claimed that airport officials said there was 'a lot of pressure from the top'. AAP has targeted the central government over this alleged incident and alleged that the Punjab Chief Minister was deliberately insulted.

Giving details of the incident, AAP's media head in Punjab Baltej Pannu said Mann was detained for three hours at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport after returning from Paris. He alleged that his luggage was being checked at this time. According to Pannu's claim, Mann was allowed to leave after three hours. When he was preparing to leave after keeping his luggage in the car, some officers again came to him. Pannu alleged that the officials concerned told her that she was under too much pressure from her seniors and then handed her a challan of Rs 50,000.

Earlier there was a dispute between the Punjab Government and the Central Government regarding allowing Bhagwant Mann to go abroad. The Center had refused to give political clearance to Mann to go to France, after which the Punjab government had approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The court canceled the Centre's decision and allowed Mann to go to Paris.
