KSU case: Female SI accused of preparing fake statement!

The investigation into the alleged attack on former Kerala minister Veena George by KSU workers has taken a new turn. A woman sub-inspector has alleged that the original investigation team had prepared a fake statement in her name. At the same time, the gunman of the former Kerala minister may have to face disciplinary action due to his recanting from his testimony.

Deepthi, who was then SI of Kannur Town and was handling Veena's security at Kannur Railway Station, told the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that the initial investigators had never recorded her statement.

He alleged that a false statement was recorded in his name, claiming that the minister had lost his balance during the protest at the Kannur railway platform on February 25.

This revelation has raised new questions on the methods of initial investigation. On the basis of this investigation, several serious charges including attempt to murder were leveled against five KSU workers. He remained in jail for several days and is now out on bail.

The SIT is preparing to send a report to the Director General of Police to recommend action against Veena's former gunman Abhilash.

Initially Abhilash had alleged that the protesters had tried to attack the minister by using weapons. However, he later told the SIT that he had not seen anyone trying to attack him.

According to the information revealed by the investigation, Abhilash also claimed that he had given his previous statement at the behest of Veena. The SIT is taking this reversal of statement seriously and is expected to detail the findings of its investigation in the report to be submitted to the DGP.

After these new revelations, the role of the officers doing the initial investigation has come under question. Now the SIT may have to investigate whether the statement and evidence were wrongly recorded.

The team has also decided to interrogate the Railway Police Inspector who had registered the case based on the gunman's initial statement.

The SIT has so far recorded the statements of all five accused in connection with the incidents related to the protests, including KSU district president M.C. Atul is also included.

In view of these new developments, Veena's statement may also have to be recorded again in detail. Earlier, the SIT had gone to his residence and recorded his initial statement.

These new revelations have further intensified the initial investigation. The results of the SIT investigation will decide whether any departmental or criminal action should be taken against those involved.

After the entire incident came to light in photographs taken by news videographers present on the platform, Veena's image has been badly damaged. Many reels were released taking a dig at him and his behavior at that time.

The CPI (M), which was in power in the state at that time, had protested on the streets against the attack on him but now that he himself is in trouble, not a single leader has come forward to defend him. Veena, who was hoping for a third consecutive victory from Aranmula assembly constituency, also lost her current assembly seat.
