BJP national spokesperson Tuhin Sinha criticized Farooq Abdullah's remarks on Pakistan. He demanded Omar Abdullah and Congress to clarify their stand. Also, expressing concern over the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, he also questioned Rahul Gandhi's decision to hold a rally on November 1.
While talking to news agency IANS, Tuhin Sinha said, “Farooq Abdullah's strange statements supporting Pakistan once again prove him to be a traitor. For the last several decades, he has been openly giving statements in favor of Pakistan and sometimes resorting to deception to remain in power. His statements given yesterday confirm that he has always been a traitor.”
He said, “Now, Omar Abdullah should either condemn his father's statements, or openly state that he stands with him. If he stands with his father, then his moral right to work as Chief Minister is lost and he should resign immediately.
Secondly, National Conference is an ally of Congress party, hence Congress should clarify its stand on Farooq Abdullah's support to Pakistan. Is Farooq Abdullah working on the instructions of Rahul Gandhi?
Rahul Gandhi is currently holidaying at some unknown place, so it is possible that he may be instructing Farooq Abdullah to make anti-India statements. The Congress Party should clear its stand on these highly objectionable statements.”
Regarding the proposed rally of India Alliance, Tuhin Sinha said, “Rahul Gandhi's repetition that his so-called 'vote theft' rally will be held in Delhi on November 1 is an insult to the sentiments of millions of Sikh families.
The pain and memories of the tragedy of 1 November 1984 are still fresh in the hearts of these families, when Congress workers across the country went out of control and carried out a massacre against the Sikh community.
At the time, newly appointed Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi justified the violence by saying that 'when a big tree falls, the earth shakes'. Today, when Rahul Gandhi is insisting on holding the rally on November 1 itself, it raises serious questions on the intentions of the Congress party.”
