Supreme Court strict in contempt case, Sanjay Raut summoned on November 17!

The Supreme Court, while hearing the criminal contempt case filed by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) against journalist Nikhil Wagle and Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut, has directed Sanjay Raut to appear in person in the court on November 17. At the same time, journalist Nikhil Wagle has been allowed to appear through virtual medium during the next hearing. The next hearing in the case will be on November 17.

During the hearing, Nikhil Wagle's lawyer Indira Jaising told the court that Wagle has removed the related social media post and has also tendered an unconditional apology through an affidavit. He said that after receiving the notice, Wagle had removed the post as soon as possible and did not try to justify his action.

Jaisingh told the court that Wagle has been in the journalism profession for nearly five decades. He is not associated with any political party nor does he take sides. He has also won many awards in his field. The lawyer said that Wagle tendered an unconditional apology as soon as he got the chance.

At the same time, Supreme Court Bar Association President Pradeep Rai objected to Wagle's post, saying that abusive language was used in it and the post was not removed until the notice was received. During the hearing the related post was also placed before the court.

In this matter, lawyer Rahul Kaushik also presented his views before the court. He said that such language and attitude towards the Supreme Court of the country should be seriously considered.
