Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday appealed to the people to join the India Bloc march at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on November 1. He called it a movement to save democracy, stop vote theft and protect the Constitution.
In a video message released in Hindi on social media platform X, Rahul Gandhi said that this march is not for any particular political party, but for the soul of India.
He said in the video, “'Chalo Delhi Ramlila March' is a march to save democracy, to stop 'vote theft' and to save the Constitution. This is not a march of any one political party, it is a march of the soul of India.”
He said, “Whoever is fed up with the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister and the Chief Election Commissioner. Whoever wants to save democracy and protect the Constitution, all come. There is only one protest. It is the protest of the country.”
Rahul Gandhi said, “Don't worry about the police, don't worry about the lathi charge, the BJP will not have the courage to try any of its own. Come with us in the march, we will march together to protect the Constitution, to protect the Indian nation. There is no need to panic.”
Rahul Gandhi said, “I appeal to all student groups, irrespective of your political affiliation, if you feel that India is under attack, if you feel that you are under attack, your expression, your ideas, your way of thinking is under threat, then come and join us.”
This appeal has come at a time when Congress is preparing for a show of strength at the India Block rally at Ramlila Maidan in Delhi on November 1.
Meanwhile, the opposition is also preparing to organize a mock parliament at the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday, during which it plans to conduct a symbolic 'mass impeachment' of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
