Telangana BJP President Ramachandra Rao termed the rally of the 23-party 'India' alliance held in Delhi as a 'flop show'. He claimed that the opposition was not able to gather as much crowd as it had expected.
Rao said Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders had earlier claimed that around 10 lakh people would attend the rally. However, he alleged that many chairs remained vacant and a large part of the ground was also vacant.
Ramachandra Rao, while talking to IANS, said that this rally of 23 parties in Delhi was a complete flop. Rahul Gandhi and other leaders had claimed that 10 lakh people would come, but we saw that many chairs were empty and even half of the ground was lying vacant. This shows that the public is not with those who are lying to the country.
This statement has come when BJP and 'India' alliance took out marches against each other in Delhi. The opposition targeted the Election Commission over alleged irregularities in the voter list. At the same time, BJP took out a march on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and raised questions on the timing of the Congress-led 'Chalo Delhi' rally.
'Chalo Delhi' march was taken out under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The march started from Minto Road-Connaught Place and ended at Ramlila Maidan, where the 'India' alliance had organized a rally.
Many opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Tejashwi Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav addressed the people present there. Rao also questioned the Congress as to why it organized the rally on November 1, which is the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
He said that on one hand the country was mourning on November 1, which is a day of mourning for Sikhs. Why did the Congress Party choose this day when people were mourning? Diwali is also coming closer, due to which traders are also facing problems.
