Karnataka CM Shivkumar on Delhi visit, will meet Rahul Gandhi and Union ministers!

Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivkumar will leave for Delhi on Friday. He will attend a meeting in Delhi called by Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, in which State Congress Committee (PCC) president and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leaders will participate. During his stay in the national capital, the Chief Minister will also meet Union Ministers.

Speaking to the media in Kanakapura, Shivakumar said that the meeting will be held on Friday evening and will last for about one and a half hours. He clarified that due to the festival of Diwali he will not meet anyone else in Delhi.

As per Chief Minister Shivkumar's schedule, he will reach the national capital on Friday evening. He will meet Union Ministers and stay at Karnataka Bhavan.

Due to Shivakumar's visit to Delhi, speculations regarding cabinet expansion have intensified in the political circles of Karnataka. Party insiders say that the Congress high command can finalize its decision and convey it to Chief Minister Shivkumar.

At present two posts are vacant in the cabinet and there is no representation of women in the cabinet. AICC general secretary and Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala had earlier said that he would take responsibility for the delay and the matter was pending from his side.

Party insiders also say that Chief Minister Shivkumar and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah are lobbying vigorously to get their respective supporters a place in the cabinet.

Regarding the inauguration of the Pink Line of 'Namma Metro' to be held on November 13, Chief Minister Shivakumar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming to Bengaluru on the invitation of the state government.

He asked, “We had invited the Prime Minister to inaugurate the Pink Line of the Metro on November 13. Some people are trying to take credit by claiming that they had invited him. What does BJP have to do with this?”

He said, “This is public money. We are developing the metro by taking loan. I will present some issues before the Prime Minister on November 13.” When asked when he would return to Kanakapura, Chief Minister Shivakumar said he would visit his constituency in three-four days.

It is noteworthy that the 7.5 km long elevated portion of Bengaluru's Pink Line (Namma Metro) is to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi on November 13, 2026.

This corridor connects Kalena Agrahara (Bannerghatta Road) to Nagawara (Outer Ring Road). Its total length is 21.26 kilometres, with 18 stations including 6 elevated and 12 underground. The first 7.5 km elevated section from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere will open first.

The elevated stations include Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIM-B, JP Nagar Fourth Phase, Jayadeva Hospital and Tavarekere. The remaining underground section (from Dairy Circle to Nagawara) is targeted to be completed by March 2027.
