Due to global instability, the Indian stock market has disappointed investors between Diwali 2025 and Diwali 2026 and during this period, Nifty has seen a decline of about 4 percent and Sensex has seen a decline of about 5 percent.

However, the recovery of about 8.5 percent in Nifty and Sensex in the last one week has helped a lot in improving this picture.

Nifty Pharma is the top gainer among the indices with returns of about 24 percent between Diwali 2025 and Diwali 2026. At the same time, about 23 percent strength has also been seen in Nifty Metal. During this period, Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Media were also among the highest growing indices.

On the other hand, Nifty FMCG was the weakest performing index in the market with a fall of 18 per cent. Nifty IT, Nifty PSU and Nifty Financial Services were among the biggest falling indices.

BSE is the highest returning stock in the Nifty50, the main index of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), with a return of 53 percent. Besides, Shriram Finance, Titan, Adani Ports and Tech Mahindra were the top gainers with returns of 25 per cent to 40 per cent.

Whereas, ITC was the top loser in Nifty50 with a fall of 31 percent. Apart from this, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, HDFC Life Insurance, Max Healthcare were the biggest fallers.

Additionally, Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will hold special trading sessions from 2:20 pm to 3:30 pm on November 8. This session marks the beginning of the new Hindu financial year.

The Indian stock market has recorded gains eight times in the last 10 Muhurat trading sessions. Major indices Nifty and Sensex had declined in 2016 and 2017, but after this both the indices closed with gains for eight consecutive sessions. However, the rise during this period was generally less than 1 percent.
