1984 Sikh Riots: Big decision of Delhi government, 150 victim families got government jobs

New Delhi. The Delhi government has taken important steps towards providing relief to the families affected by the 1984 Sikh massacre. During the last one and a half year, 150 members of the victim families have been given government jobs. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta gave this information on Saturday. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that it is the government's effort to provide government jobs to all the eligible families affected by the 1984 Sikh genocide as soon as possible. For this, the recruitment process has been made easier than before, so that eligible people can get the benefit of employment. He said that in the process of giving jobs to the members of the victim families, relief has been given in the conditions related to educational qualification.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta participated in the 'Samvad-1984' program organized at the residence of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. In this program he met the members of the families affected by the 1984 Sikh genocide and heard about their problems, struggles and the long wait for justice. During this, the Chief Minister said that remembering the events of 1984 is still very painful. It is not possible to express in words the pain of the difficult circumstances these families have faced over the years. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that in the year 1984, innocent people had to face a one-sided attack. He said that it is not appropriate to call that incident merely a conflict between two groups or a general riot.

He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, SIT was formed with the aim of providing justice to the victims' families, which helped in taking forward the investigation of those cases in which earlier action could not be taken. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the families affected by the 1984 massacre have been waiting for justice for decades. Providing justice to such families is not only the administrative responsibility of the government, but also its moral responsibility. A Special Investigation Team was formed to carry forward the investigation of long pending cases. This was an attempt to advance the hopes of justice for the victims' families.

Big relief in jobs to the families of 1984 Sikh massacre victims

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that now members of eligible families will not have to face obstacles in appointment due to old age or non-fulfillment of prescribed educational qualification. Families will be able to nominate a suitable member for the job as per their circumstances. The Chief Minister said that the families whose documents and cases are getting clarified are continuously being given government appointments. Efforts are being made to hand over appointment letters to the remaining eligible families soon.

He said that those whose families were lost in the events of 1984 cannot be brought back, but the government can make every possible effort to improve the lives of their families and provide them economic and social support. Rekha Gupta assured that the Delhi government will ensure that no eligible victim family under its jurisdiction is deprived of government assistance.
