Amitabh Bachchan’s film Agneepath, released in the year 1990, could not be successful at the box office at that time, but later it got the status of a cult classic and Amitabh Bachchan also received the National Award for Best Actor for the same film. The film was directed by Mukul Anand and produced by Yash Johar. In the film, Amitabh Bachchan played the powerful character of ‘Vijay Dinanath Chauhan’, which is considered very popular among the audience even today.
The film was made on a budget of around Rs 2.85 crore to Rs 4 crore at that time and collected around Rs 10.25 crore, despite this it was considered a box office flop due to the production and distribution costs. In the year 2012, a remake of this film was also made which was produced by Karan Johar in the memory of his father Yash Johar, in this new Agneepath, Hrithik Roshan played the role of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan while stars like Sanjay Dutt, Rishi Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra were seen, this remake proved to be a superhit at the box office.
