Lucknow. Relief news has emerged for the employees and officers of the state government of Uttar Pradesh. The government has expedited the process regarding increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and payment of arrears. About 16 lakh employees of the state are likely to get direct benefits from this.
2% increase in dearness allowance
The Finance Department has prepared a proposal for 2 percent increase in dearness allowance for state employees. This proposal will soon be presented to the Chief Minister for approval. After getting the approval, DA of the employees will increase from 58 percent to 60 percent. All officers and employees of the state government will get the benefit of this increase and it is being prepared to be linked with the salary for the month of May.
Benefit of arrears will be available from January
The government has also decided that the benefit of DA increase will be considered effective from January 2026. That is, the amount of arrears from January to April will be deposited in the GPF (General Provident Fund) accounts of the employees. At the same time, from May, the increased DA will be paid directly by adding it to the monthly salary, due to which there will be immediate improvement in the income of the employees.
State initiative after central government’s decision
It is noteworthy that on April 22, the Central Government had issued an order to increase 2 percent DA for its employees. Usually, state governments also implement similar increases for their employees after the Centre’s decision. In this sequence, the UP government has also prepared to take this step.
16 lakh employees will benefit from this
This decision will directly benefit about 16 lakh government employees and officers of the state. This will not only increase their monthly income but will also provide relief from the pressure of inflation.
