2027 election preparations in full swing, new faces from UP may get a place in Modi cabinet expansion
Knews Desk- Keeping in mind the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2027, Bharatiya Janata Party seems to be busy in preparations for reshuffle in the Union Cabinet. There is talk in political circles that many MPs from Uttar Pradesh may get ministerial responsibilities in the upcoming cabinet expansion. Although no official announcement has been made in this regard yet by the Central Government or the BJP, political speculation has intensified regarding possible names.
Recently Pankaj Chaudhary has been made the state president of Uttar Pradesh BJP. In such a situation, under the principle of ‘one leader, one post’, there is a possibility of his withdrawal from the Union Cabinet. If this happens then a new face from the UP quota can be included in the Union Cabinet. It is believed that BJP is working on a strategy to solve caste and regional equations before the assembly elections.
According to political sources, the names of former Union Minister Dr. Mahesh Sharma, former Union Minister Sanjeev Balyan, Rajya Sabha MP and former Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Dinesh Sharma and Meerut MP Arun Govil are included among the possible contenders. The political experience and regional influence of these leaders can play an important role in the election strategy of BJP. Especially Dr. Dinesh Sharma is considered an influential face of the Brahmin community. Sanjeev Baliyan and Dr. Mahesh Sharma, who have a strong hold in Western Uttar Pradesh, are also among the possible contenders. Apart from this, BJP can also try to create social balance by including one MP each from OBC and Dalit class in the Union Cabinet.
The name of Meerut MP Arun Govil is also in discussions. The image of Arun Govil, who played the role of Lord Ram in the popular serial ‘Ramayana’, remains strong among the general public even today. Political analysts believe that if he gets a place in the cabinet, then BJP can try to establish positive political influence in western Uttar Pradesh along with giving religious and cultural message. At present many leaders from Uttar Pradesh including Prime Minister Narendra Modi are included in the Union Cabinet. Among them, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Anupriya Patel, Jayant Chaudhary, Jitin Prasad, Pankaj Chaudhary, Kirtivardhan Singh, SP Singh Baghel, Kamlesh Paswan and BL Verma are prominent.
BJP’s strategy is not considered to be limited only to cabinet expansion, but its aim may also be to establish better coordination between the organization and the government before the 2027 assembly elections. Keeping in mind regional representation, social balance and electoral equations, new faces are expected to be given a chance. At present, there has been no official confirmation regarding cabinet expansion. In such a situation, the ongoing discussions regarding possible names and changes are being seen only as political speculations. In the coming days, everyone’s eyes will be on the decisions of the BJP leadership.
