Lord Shiva Puja Rules: Do not make these mistakes while worshiping Lord Shiva, otherwise the worship may remain incomplete.

Lord Shiva Puja Rules: Lord Shiva is called Bholenath because he is easily pleased by the true devotion of his devotees. But according to religious beliefs, there are some mistakes which are considered very important to be avoided while worshiping Shiva.

Worship is not just about following the rituals, but purity of mind, words and deeds is also equally important. Therefore, if you want to get the blessings of Lord Shiva, then take special care of these things during the puja.

Take care of cleanliness before worship

It is considered auspicious to take bath and wear clean and neat clothes before starting Shiva puja. Performing puja without purity can reduce the importance of puja from religious point of view. The place of worship should also be clean and quiet.

Do not offer turmeric and vermillion on Shivalinga.

According to religious beliefs, turmeric and vermillion are not offered on the Shivalinga of Lord Shiva. Shivalinga is considered a symbol of renunciation and penance, hence offering water, milk, belpatra, dhatura, ash and white flowers on it is considered more auspicious.

Take this small precaution while offering Belpatra

Always offer clean and fresh Bel leaves on Shivling. If the Bel leaves are infested with insects, torn or very dry then they should be avoided. It is considered appropriate to offer Belpatra with reverence and respect.

Avoid offering Ketaki flower

According to the beliefs described in Shiva Purana, Ketaki flower is not offered in the worship of Lord Shiva. Instead of this, white flowers, orange flowers or other acceptable flowers can be offered.

Stay away from anger and negative thoughts during puja.

While worshiping Lord Shiva, the mind should be calm and concentrated. One should avoid anger, dispute, harsh words or keeping ill will towards anyone during the puja. Worship done with devotion and positive feelings is considered more fruitful.

Do not use broken or dirty puja material

Water, milk, fruits and other ingredients used in puja should be fresh and clean. Use of bad or impure material is not considered appropriate from religious point of view.

Pronounce Shiva Mantra correctly

If you are chanting “Om Namah Shivay” or other Shiva mantras, say them with reverence and attention. Instead of chanting the mantra hastily or without concentration, it is considered better to chant the mantra with full devotion even in small numbers.

True faith, pure mind and simple feelings are considered to be of utmost importance in the worship of Lord Shiva. If the devotee worships with devotion and follows small precautions while respecting religious beliefs, his worship is considered more meaningful.

Keep in mind that there may be some differences in the methods of worship in different regions and traditions, so it is also considered appropriate to follow the tradition of your family or guru.
