Conflict in Trump administration, JD Vance and Marco Rubio have different opinions on Iran and Lebanon issue, White House denies

There are reports of internal differences in the team of US President Donald Trump. There seem to be different views between Vice President JD Vance and Foreign Minister Marco Rubio regarding Iran and Lebanon. However, the White House says that the entire team is together and working on President Trump’s agenda.

JD Vance’s perspective

Vice President JD Vance seems very positive about relations with Iran. He indicated that if peace prevails, Gulf countries could help finance the reconstruction of Iran. Vance also reported that the US and Iran are very close to a peace agreement that would allow Iran’s nuclear program to be controlled for the long term.

Vance took a different stance on the issue of Lebanon. He criticized Israel’s attacks on civilian infrastructure in Beirut. He believed that such attacks could harm the ongoing diplomatic efforts with Iran and efforts for regional peace.

Marco Rubio’s tough stance

On the other hand, Foreign Minister Marco Rubio is very cautious about Iran. He says that any agreement should fully protect the interests of America and its allies. Rubio made it clear that the issue of missiles and Iran’s support to proxy groups, especially Hezbollah, would have to be addressed separately.

Rubio justified Israel’s military action in Lebanon and called it a legitimate response to Hezbollah’s attacks. On June 27, 2026, he announced a framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon. The purpose of this agreement is to eliminate Hezbollah and restore Lebanon’s sovereignty. America will also provide humanitarian assistance of 100 million dollars for this.

White House and Trump’s statement

Amid reports of these differences, the White House clarified that the administration’s foreign policy is completely united. President Donald Trump has pushed for a comprehensive Iran deal and hopes for a complete ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon, Hezbollah and Israel. Trump also claimed that Iran has fully agreed to the highest level of nuclear inspections.
