In this matter Rahul Dravid is at number one. He scored 215 runs in the Ahmedabad Test in 2009 against Sri Lanka. Dravid had played an inning of 177 runs in the first innings. Padikkal's excellent batting

26 year old Padikkal is playing only his third Test match. He has made a comeback in the Indian team after November 2024. Sudarshan's injury created an opportunity for him at number 3, which he capitalized on well. He has looked better than all the batsmen in the Galle Test so far. After his excellent performance, it has now become difficult for Sudarshan to return to the third position. It is believed that even if Sudarshan is fit, Padikkal will play in this position.
