New Delhi: Indian agencies have arrested three absconding Indian gangsters after taking action in Malaysia and brought them back to India. Upon reaching India, all three were handed over to police custody. According to the Home Ministry, the arrested accused have been identified as Jaspreet Singh alias Behbal, Ajay Singh and Pawandeep Singh. All three are said to be allegedly associated with the Bambiha gang and involved in several serious criminal cases.
The Home Ministry said on social media platform X that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Safe India', Indian agencies are continuously taking action to bring back notorious criminals hiding abroad to India. According to the ministry, so far in 2026, it has helped in bringing back 51 notorious criminals to India.
Brought from Malaysia to India and handed over to Punjab Police
According to Punjab DGP, the three accused were arrested from Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport after being deported from Malaysia. After this he has been brought to Punjab for investigation.
Among the accused, Jaspreet Singh alias Behbal is said to be a resident of Faridkot, while Ajay Singh and Pawandeep Singh are said to be residents of Sriganganagar, Rajasthan.
Accusations related to murder, extortion and explosives
According to the police, all three accused were part of the criminal network linked to Davinder Bambiha gang. Many serious allegations have been made against them including murder, extortion, cross-border smuggling of arms and narcotics, supply of explosive substances.
He is also accused of being involved in the alleged conspiracy and failed attempt of hand grenade attack in Ludhiana. Police have also said that this case is linked to Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI.
Surveillance was going on for several months
According to Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) Amit Prasad, the deportation and arrest of these fugitive accused is the result of persistent action by the intelligence agencies. He told that this operation was going on for the last several months and during this time the activities of fugitive criminals present abroad were being closely monitored.
Punjab DGP gave a strict message
On August 19, Punjab DGP had said that Punjab Police is continuously working to dismantle the international organized crime network. He had made it clear that wherever fugitive criminals are hiding in the world, they will be traced and brought under the ambit of law.
