Bihar Health Department is accused of alleged dustbin scam worth Rs 300 crore. RJD leader Rohini Acharya claimed that the dustbin which was available in the market for Rs 1500, has been purchased by the government at an exorbitant price of Rs 15,490. However, the state government department BMSICL rejected these allegations outright. He clarified that this is not an ordinary dustbin, but a special customized equipment used in hospitals for safe disposal of medical waste.
Main allegations of opposition
The opposition alleges that the Health Department paid ten times more, i.e. more than ₹15,000, for a simple dustbin priced at ₹1,500. In social media and media reports, this purchase is being described as a 'dustbin scam' of around ₹ 300 crore to ₹ 306 crore, which is related to the purchase of the year 2023. RJD leader Rohini Acharya cornered the then Health Minister Mangal Pandey and current Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary through social media posts. He has termed it as 'another trick of the Emperor's government'.

Bihar Medical Services and Infrastructure Corporation Limited (BMSICL) has given clarification on the allegations. BMSICL MD Subrata Sen clarified that this is not a common dustbin. It is a special technical part of high-temperature microwave machine for disinfection of medical waste in hospitals.
Argument for CAG investigation
Neeraj Kumar, chief spokesperson of Janata Dal United (JDU), which is part of the ruling alliance, has hit back at the opposition. He said that merely making a photo or bill viral on social media does not prove a scam. The responsibility of examining government receipts and bills lies with the Comptroller and Auditor General of India i.e. CAG. Neeraj said that if CAG wants, it can look into this matter.
Neeraj said that the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Bihar Assembly is opposition MLA Bhai Virendra himself, hence he should first look into the facts of the matter at his level.
