Delhi Lakshmi Yojana: The wait for the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana announced by the Bharatiya Janata Party during the assembly elections for the women of Delhi now seems to be over. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta handed over approval letters to the beneficiaries of the first phase of the scheme in a special program organized at Talkatora Stadium on Wednesday, August 26. Nearly 4,000 women have been given beneficiary letters. Under the scheme, eligible women are to be given financial assistance of Rs 2,500 every month.

According to the government, after receiving the beneficiary letter, the process related to the bank accounts and CBDC wallet of the concerned women will be completed. After this, the process of transferring the scheme amount to the accounts of the beneficiaries is expected to start from September 1. The government says that the objective of the scheme is to economically strengthen the women of Delhi and help them become self-reliant.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said in the program that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Delhi government is fulfilling the promises made in its manifesto. He said that under Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, a system of giving Rs 2,500 every month to women has been started from August 1. According to the Chief Minister, so far more than nine lakh women have registered for this scheme.
The Chief Minister said that under the scheme, approval letters are being given to the first beneficiaries. He said that after opening the bank accounts and CBDC wallets of the beneficiaries, the amount will be credited to their accounts on September 1. According to the government, the administration is fully prepared to complete the necessary process related to identification and eligibility of the beneficiaries.
A large number of women have applied for Delhi Laxmi Yojana. According to data available till 8 pm on Tuesday night, 9,20,590 women had registered for the scheme. Of these, 6,63,215 applications have been finally submitted. It is clear that there is a lot of interest among women regarding the scheme.

In the first phase, about 4,000 women have been given beneficiary letters. After this, the process will be taken forward to bring other women who have completed the eligibility process under the ambit of the scheme. The government says that the benefits of the scheme will be available only to those women who meet the prescribed eligibility standards.
The assistance of Rs 2,500 received every month will become a medium of regular financial support for women. From the government side, it is being linked to women's respect, safety and self-reliance. Especially in families where women's own regular income is limited, such assistance can be helpful in meeting household needs.
The application process for the implementation of the scheme has been taken forward through digital medium. After a large number of registrations and submission of final applications, the government will now be challenged to scrutinize the eligible applications and provide the funds to the beneficiaries on time. The payment is to be initiated after the completion of the process involving the bank accounts and CBDC wallet of the beneficiaries.
This scheme is considered important for the Delhi government from both political and administrative point of view. The promise of providing financial assistance to women was one of the major election promises of BJP during the assembly elections. Now the government is moving towards implementing the scheme on the ground. After distribution of beneficiary letters in the first phase, preparations are being made to connect a large number of women with this scheme in the coming time.
Currently around 9.20 lakh registrations and 6.63 lakh final applications show the huge reach of this scheme. Now women will keep an eye on when they are included in the beneficiary list after completion of eligibility verification and when the amount of Rs 2,500 reaches their accounts. At present, the government has said that the process of transfer of funds will start from September 1.
