4 dead and 10 missing, cruise loaded with tourists overturns in dam in Jabalpur
A major accident took place in Bargi Dam reservoir in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh. A river cruise carrying around 29 tourists capsized due to a strong storm. Officials say that four people have lost their lives in the accident. 15 others have been rescued. And 10 other tourists are missing. They are being searched. Local people managed to save some tourists wearing life jackets with the help of rope. The search for the remaining people is going on. Due to darkness the search operation is facing difficulties.
Let us tell you that Bargi is built on the Narmada river. On Thursday, tickets of 29 people were canceled to travel on the cruise. Police and State Disaster Response Force teams are engaged in relief and search operations on war footing. Jabalpur Collector and Superintendent of Police reached the spot. On the other hand, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed deep sorrow over the Bargi Dam accident. Also announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased.

Government with affected families: CM
CM Mohan Yadav wrote on X account, ‘Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh, Tourism Minister Dharmendra Singh Lodhi, senior divisional and police officers and local public representatives have been instructed to reach the spot to oversee the rescue operation. In a quick operation, 15 civilians were rescued and efforts are on to find those who are still missing. In this hour of crisis, the government is standing with the affected families with full sensitivity and is ensuring all possible assistance to them.
The crew could not hear the noise of the tourists
According to Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh, the incident occurred between 6 to 6:15 pm. The boat was carrying 29 passengers along with two crew members. 15 passengers were rescued. Four died. The boat has been straightened. A thorough investigation of the incident will be conducted after the search and rescue operations are completed.

The minister further said that the priority is to trace the missing people. However, due to darkness the rescue operation is becoming difficult. According to eyewitnesses, due to strong winds, strong waves started rising in the water. People on board the cruise started raising noise and asked the crew to take the boat back to shore. But the crew could not hear those noises and the boat capsized.
