4-lane bridge being built on river Ganga in Bihar, good news for these districts!

Patna. A big work is progressing rapidly towards strengthening the infrastructure in Bihar. The construction work of the new 4-lane bridge being built on the Ganga river connecting North and South Bihar is now almost 73 percent complete. After the completion of this project, both travel and trade between many districts will become easier.

New bridge being built parallel to Mahatma Gandhi Bridge

This new bridge is being built parallel to the historical Mahatma Gandhi Setu, which will reduce the traffic pressure between the capital Patna and North Bihar. This bridge will connect Patna, Saran and Vaishali districts with a strong road network. This project, about 14.5 kilometers long, is being considered very important for regional development.

Changes in costs and deadlines

The initial estimated cost of this project was around Rs 2574 crore, but due to construction work and technical requirements, it has now increased to around Rs 2926 crore. The government aims to start traffic on this bridge by 2027.

Construction work started in 2021

The construction work of this bridge started in March 2021. The responsibility of construction has been given to SP Singla Constructions Private Limited. To monitor the quality, Dohwa Engineering Company Limited has been appointed as the authority engineer.

Which districts will get the benefit?

The people of Patna, Vaishali, Saran, Muzaffarpur and Siwan districts will get the biggest benefit from the construction of this bridge. Travel time between these areas will be significantly reduced and the problem of traffic jams will also reduce.

Farmers of North Bihar will get help in quickly delivering their produce like fruits and vegetables to the markets of Patna. This will reduce transport expenses and farmers’ income is likely to increase.
