4-lane road will be built between UP-Bihar, good news for these districts
News Desk. An important step has been taken towards strengthening the road connectivity between Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has started the tender process for the proposed four-lane road project from Arrah to Ballia via Bairia. After the completion of this project costing about Rs 1,564.19 crore, travel between the two states is expected to be faster, safer and more convenient than before.
Target to complete this road project in four years
This road project will be developed under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) model. In this model, the construction agency will take complete responsibility from designing to construction of the road. As per the stipulated timeline, the agency will have to complete the construction work within four years. After this, the responsibility of maintenance and repair of the road will also remain with the same agency for the next five years.
Tender process started, bids will open on August 20
NHAI has issued tender for this ambitious project. The tenders received will be opened on August 20, after which the construction agency will be selected. After the selection of the agency, preparations are on to take the project forward rapidly.
Traveling from Ara to Ballia will be easy
Currently, people traveling between Arrah and Ballia face problems like narrow roads, traffic jams and long travel duration at many places. After the construction of the new four-lane road, these problems are expected to reduce significantly. With better road network, private vehicles, buses and goods vehicles will be able to move more easily.
New bridge will also be constructed on Ganga
The most important part of this project is the proposed new bridge on the river Ganga. The road will be constructed as an alternative to the Pipa bridge route, so that uninterrupted connectivity can be ensured throughout the year. Apart from this, overbridges and bypasses will also be constructed at necessary places, which will reduce the traffic pressure within the cities and long distance vehicles will be able to move without any hindrance.
These districts will get direct benefits
The people of Bhojpur, Patna, Ballia and many surrounding districts are expected to get maximum benefit from this project. Better road connectivity will ease access to employment, trade, education and health services. Besides, investment and industrial activities can also get a boost in the area.
