IRCTC New Website: Important news for railway passengers! IRCTC’s booking portal will change from July 15, new rule applicable on Tatkal ticket booking
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has announced that a new and better than ever website of IRCTC is going to be launched on July 15. According to news agency ANI, during a program in Rajasthan on June 11, some students had complained to the Railway Minister about the shortcomings of the website and problems in ticket booking, after which this big decision was taken.
A student of MNIT (Malaviya National Institute of Technology), Jaipur specifically pointed out how troublesome it is due to the repeated ‘CAPTCHA’ verification while booking tickets. With this new and upgraded website, passengers will get superfast ticket booking, easy navigation and many new features. Let us know what something special is going to happen in this new website:
1. Huge increase in booking capacity
According to a June 12 report by The Economic Times (ET), the ticket booking capacity of the new system has been increased manifold. While the current system can book only about 32,000 tickets in a minute, the new website will be able to process more than 1.5 lakh tickets in a minute.
2. Inquiry will be even faster
Now it will not hang due to increase in load on the website. The new reservation system will now be able to handle more than 40 lakh inquiries in a minute, whereas the existing system has a capacity of only 4 lakh per minute.
3. New features in Passenger Reservation System (PRS)
- Choice of preferred seat: Passengers will be able to choose the seat of their choice while booking the ticket.
- With the help of this feature, passengers will be able to compare fares for different dates, which will help them in choosing economical tickets.
- The website will now be available in many Indian languages for people from different parts of the country.
- All facilities on a single platform: Concessions and services available to disabled people, students and patients will now be integrated on a single platform.
4. Very simple and clean interface
According to a June 11 report by NDTV, the new website will remove unnecessary pop-ups, distracting graphics and unnecessary captchas, which often act as a deterrent to bookings. Those who book Tatkal tickets will benefit the most from this change, because their precious time will be saved.
Apart from this, now passengers will not have to click separately to see different classes of seats like Sleeper, Third AC, Second AC. On the new website, seat availability of all classes can be seen simultaneously on a single screen.
