4 Sporty Scooters Coming Soon: Honda ADV 160 To Ultraviolette Tesseract

Scooters are usually seen as practical and utility-focused, not sporty or exciting. However, this perception is now changing. Today, there are several scooters in the market that are sporty and fun to ride, across both petrol and electric segments. More launches are expected in the coming months. Here are four sporty scooters that we think will launch in the near future. .

At its recent mega unveiling event, Honda showcased the ADV 160 adventure maxi scooter in India. Although a launch date hasn’t been announced yet, we know that this product will go on sale here, in the not-so-distant future.

It has an adventure-inspired styling. Tall, adjustable windscreen, muscular body panels, dual LED headlamps, hand guards, stepped seat, and more. The vehicle has a rugged, tall stance and high ground clearance. The suspension aligns with this sporty, adventure-focussed character. The scooter gets telescopic forks at the front and twin shocks at the rear.

The ADV 160 is powered by a 156.9cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, mated to a CVT gearbox. This engine has an output of 16.09bhp and 14.9Nm, and comes with an idle start-stop system. This helps in increasing the overall fuel efficiency. More importantly, this engine is flex-fuel compliant and can run on blends of up to E85 (85% ethanol and 15% petrol).

The ADV 160 will come with features like a TFT display with Honda Roadsync, turn-by-turn navigation, electronics like traction control, dual-channel ABS and more. The vehicle also has USB charging ports and a 27-litre underseat storage. The scooter also gets disc brakes at both ends.

ymaha nmax 155

Yamaha has plans to bring the NMax family to India. The NMax is a popular maxi-scooter model that the manufacturer sells in several international markets. When brought to India, the NMax will have a 155cc engine. Expected to be out in 2027, the NMax 155 will share its underbone platform with the Aerox. It will, however, have a more practical and comfortable design.

The scooter will have a wide front profile with a large LED headlamp and a tall windscreen. These will give it a strong road presence. Like other maxi scooters, it will also lack a traditional floorboard and will ride on 13-inch wheels. The suspension setup will include telescopic forks at the front and shock absorbers at the rear. There will be disc brakes at both ends and the scooter will feature dual-channel ABS as well.

It will come with features like a 4.2-inch colour TFT display, keyless ignition, all-LED lighting, and auto start-stop technology.

The NMax 155 will be powered by the Aerox’s 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes 14.8bhp and 14Nm. The pricing is likely to fall in the ballpark of Rs 1.5 lakh.

tvs maxi scooter

TVS Motor Company is also developing a new maxi scooter to challenge the likes of the Aerox and other maxi scooters. It will be based on a fresh 160cc platform. The launch is expected next year and will likely target buyers looking for a value-packed offering in the segment.

The TVS maxi scooter will have a bold and bulky design and a strong road presence. It will likely borrow from the NTorq family’s styling. This maxi scooter is expected to use a 160cc, liquid-cooled engine producing around 14 to 15 PS. This would make it stay relevant and competitive in the segment. TVS will offer connected technology in this scooter along with several other features.
