New Zealand got a shock of 440 volts, the captain was out of the first T20 against Bangladesh.
The New Zealand cricket team has suffered a major setback before the first T20 match against Bangladesh. Kiwi team captain Tom Latham has been out of the first match and after his exit, New Zealand has appointed Nick Kelly as its captain. The New Zealand Cricket Board issued an update on Latham’s injury and said that Kelly will take charge of the team in the first match.
The first match of the three-match series between the two teams will be played at Bir Shrestho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram. Latham suffered a toe injury during training on Sunday. He has a deep cut under the nail of his thumb, due to which he will not be able to play the first T20I match.
Giving an update on this, NZC said, “Blackcaps captain Tom Latham has been ruled out of the first T20I match against Bangladesh today. While batting during training yesterday, the ball hit the big toe of his right foot. Latham has a deep cut under the nail of the big toe. A decision will be taken before each match regarding his playing in the remaining matches of the series. Wellington Firebirds batsman Nick Kelly will replace Latham. Will captain and become the 13th T20I captain of the Blackcaps.”
