Health Desk. Many problems related to the uterus are seen in women, among which fibroids are also a common condition. Fibroids are lumps formed in the muscles of the uterus. Many women do not show any symptoms, but in some cases such signs may be seen in the body, which if ignored for a long time can increase the problem.
1. Excessive bleeding during periods
A major sign of fibroids may be heavier or longer bleeding than usual during menstruation. In case of frequent or excessive bleeding, it is important to consult a doctor.
2. Pain in the lower abdomen
As the size of fibroids increases, pain, heaviness or pressure may be felt in the lower abdomen or pelvis. Some women may also feel full all the time.
3. Frequent urination
If the fibroid is putting pressure on the organs around the uterus, you may feel the need to urinate frequently. However, there can be many other reasons for this also.
4. Pain in waist or legs
Some women may feel pain from pelvic area to waist or legs due to fibroids. It is not right to avoid such persistent pain by considering it as normal.
5. Difficulty conceiving
In some cases, fibroids may play a role in conception or pregnancy-related problems. However, having fibroids does not mean that a woman cannot conceive.
When to contact a doctor?
If there is continuous heavy bleeding during periods, severe pelvic pain, unusual heaviness in the stomach or difficulty in conceiving, then it is better to get checked by a gynecologist. Fibroids are usually confirmed by medical examination and tests such as ultrasound.
