Automobile Desk: To maintain its dominance in the Indian passenger vehicle segment, Maruti Suzuki is once again preparing to update the product portfolio on a large scale. In the coming time, the company is planning to launch 5 new vehicles on the roads keeping in mind different segments. These include entry-level electric cars, 3-row family MPVs and facelift versions of popular models.
Let us know which vehicles are going to find a place in this new plan of Maruti:
- Maruti Fronx Facelift
Preparations to give a new look to the company's popular compact crossover Front are in the final stages. The model seen recently during testing indicates that there will be visual changes in its front grille, bumper and headlight setup. The most important thing is that sensors of radar based safety technology i.e. ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) have been seen in the testing mule. It is expected that the new model may have modern safety features like adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking. However, on the mechanical front, the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine options are likely to remain the same as before.
- Maruti YMC Electric 7-Seater MPV
To make a strong hold in the electric vehicle segment, Maruti is working on its first all-electric 3-row MPV, which has been codenamed YMC. The pictures revealed show that it has been given a bold design like an SUV and a long roofline, which will provide better space inside the cabin. This model may be based on the platform and powertrain of the company's e-Vitara. If reports are to be believed, it can be offered with battery pack options of 49kWh and 61kWh capacity, which is expected to provide a long range.
- Maruti Victoris
A covered testing model of Maruti Victoris, which was launched in the market last year, has recently been seen on the roads. Due to this, it is being speculated that the company is thinking of bringing some changes or new updates in its powertrain. However, it is not clear from the spy shots whether this is a flex-fuel model of the car or an electric incarnation. The company has not yet issued any official statement regarding its cosmetic changes or feature list.
- small budget electric car
Seeing the demand for cheap electric option, Maruti is working rapidly on a compact EV. This car will directly compete with established vehicles like Tata Punch EV. Although the name and technical details of this model are still kept secret, but according to industry sources, the company can launch it in the market by the year 2027.
- Maruti Invicto Facelift
The company is planning to launch an updated version of its flagship car Invicto in the premium MPV segment. In the new facelift model, the exterior designing will be refreshed a bit and some new features can be added inside the cabin. The combination of the existing 2.0-litre strong hybrid petrol engine and e-CVT automatic gearbox is likely to continue in the vehicle. The official launch timeline is yet to be announced.
