51st meeting of Pragati in ‘Seva Tirtha’: PM Modi’s focus on development projects, instructions given to officials

New Delhi, 28 May. Sharing information on his social media platform X on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he chaired the 51st meeting of Pragati on Wednesday, in which many important development projects across the country were reviewed. This meeting was held at PM Modi’s office ‘Seva Teerth’.

30,000 Review of progress of various infrastructure projects costing more than Rs. crore

During the meeting, the Prime Minister reviewed the progress of various infrastructure projects costing more than Rs 30,000 crore, according to a government release. These included projects related to railways, power and road connectivity, which are spread across nine states of the country. In reviewing these projects, special attention was paid to timelines, coordination between various agencies and resolution of pending issues.

Ken-Betwa Link Project and Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0 also reviewed

At the same time, PM Modi also reviewed the Ken-Betwa Link Project and Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban 2.0. He said that the purpose of these projects is not just to create infrastructure but it is important to bring real and measurable change in the lives of people through them. He urged the states to expeditiously complete the development of solid waste management, waste processing plants and infrastructure under the Gobardhan Scheme.

Emphasis on promoting rooftop solar systems in urban areas

Discussing the power sector projects, the Prime Minister stressed on promoting rooftop solar systems in urban areas. He said that it should be implemented in mission mode, so that the cost of electricity is reduced, energy security is strengthened and clean energy is promoted. He called for its expansion, especially in residential areas, cities and public institutions.

Develop Wadhawan Port as a modern multi-modal development model

During the review of road and port connectivity projects, the Prime Minister talked about developing Wadhawan Port as a modern multi-modal development model. He had said that it should be developed as a major gateway at the national level, better connected by rail, road, air and waterways.

He also stressed on water conservation, groundwater recharge and strengthening efficient irrigation systems.

Now regular review of social sector schemes will strengthen monitoring and accountability.

PM Modi also said in the meeting that delay in government projects increases the cost and the general public gets the benefits of facilities late. Therefore, all ministries and states should be more active and complete the work in a time bound manner. At the beginning of the meeting, the Cabinet Secretary informed that now a new system of regular review of social sector schemes has also been implemented, which will further strengthen monitoring and accountability.
