Patna. To strengthen road connectivity in Bihar, work is going on on Sherpur-Digwara six-lane bridge project. The project, costing around Rs 4,250 crore, is expected to ease transportation between Patna and Saran. After its completion, it can help in reducing the traffic pressure in the capital Patna along with providing alternative routes to the passengers.
The route will be 14.5 kilometers long
The total length of the Sherpur-Digwara project is said to be approximately 14.5 kilometers. Road Construction Department of Bihar Government has also shared information regarding the construction work. This six-lane link road is considered important for increasing the traffic capacity in the area and improving the road network.
Distance expected to reduce by 30 kilometers
The project is claimed to reduce the travel distance between Sherpur and Dighwara by about 30 kilometers. This can save people's time and fuel. However, the actual distance and time saved will depend on the starting and ending location of the passengers.
Passengers of five districts will benefit from this project
Apart from Patna and Saran, this project is also expected to provide better connectivity to the passengers traveling towards Chhapra, Siwan, Gopalganj and Hajipur. By strengthening road connectivity, freight transportation and regional traffic can also benefit.
After completion of the project, the need for some long distance vehicles to pass through Patna city may be reduced. This is likely to help in reducing traffic pressure on the major routes of the city. However, the official date of completion of the project and commencement of traffic is still required to be confirmed.
