Six Nigerian nationals have each been fined VND35 million (US$1,300) for overstaying in Vietnam by more than a year, according to immigration authorities under the Khanh Hoa Provincial Police.
The men will be deported from Vietnam after completing their administrative penalties, Vietnam News Agency reported.
The two accommodation establishments were fined a combined VND61.5 million for violations including failing to declare the temporary residence of foreign nationals and allowing foreigners without lawful residence status to stay on their premises.
The Khanh Hoa Provincial Police urged accommodation providers to strictly comply with regulations on declaring the temporary residence of foreign nationals.
In May, eight foreign nationals — six Russians, one Ukrainian and one Kyrgyz citizen — were also deported from Vietnam after authorities found they had breached immigration regulations by engaging in activities inconsistent with their visa status.
