New Delhi: MCD has intensified its campaign against illegal construction, dangerous buildings and commercial activities going on in disregard of rules in Delhi. The corporation on Thursday took action simultaneously in all 12 zones of the capital and took demolition action on 41 properties, while 61 properties were sealed. Apart from issuing 32 show cause notices, three demolition orders were also passed.
MCD's action did not stop here. The corporation also tightened its grip on those who used the basement as a shop in Kucha Mahajani of Chandni Chowk. Here 54 illegal shops running in the basements of different properties were sealed. This action was taken in compliance with the instructions of the monitoring committee of the Supreme Court.
Bulldozer running in 12 zones
Action was taken against many illegal constructions in Khureji Khas, Jagatpuri and Laxmi Nagar of the East Zone. In the Western Zone, illegal roof panels, slabs, walls and other constructions were removed in Paschim Puri, Madipur, Subhash Nagar, Uttam Nagar, Bakkarwala, Nangli Vihar and Nihal Vihar. After four panels of the fifth floor of a five-storey building in Madanpur Khadar Extension in the Central Zone were cut, the entire property was sealed.
Corporation's eye on PG also
MCD has also started a comprehensive survey of PG buildings across Delhi. So far, 1,355 buildings have been identified where residential facility in the form of PG is being operated. About 27 thousand people are living in these buildings. The corporation is preparing detailed data through this survey and making a strategy for further action.
MCD officials have made it clear that the campaign against illegal construction, misuse of property and dangerous structures will intensify in the coming days. Action will be taken against the properties where rules are found violated.
