7 years of abrogation of Article 370: PM Modi says a decisive new chapter has begun in the journey of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.

New Delhi. Today marks seven years since the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35(A) from Jammu and Kashmir. Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an important statement on this occasion. He said that August 5, 2019, marked the beginning of a new chapter in the history of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Since then, the lives of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have undergone profound changes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on social media, “Seven years ago, on this day, Articles 370 and 35(A) became history, marking the beginning of a decisive new chapter in the journey of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Since then, the lives of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have undergone profound changes. Infrastructure has expanded, and opportunities have increased in areas such as education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and sports. Whether it’s women or marginalized communities, those who were denied their basic constitutional rights for decades have been empowered due to the full implementation of the Constitution of India.”

He further wrote, “This year, August 5th assumes even greater significance as our country celebrates the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. His lifelong commitment to national unity has inspired generations. The dream he envisioned decades ago became a historic reality on August 5, 2019.”

We reiterate our commitment to the progress of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh and to ensure that every citizen has the opportunity to dream big, achieve them and contribute to building a ‘Developed India’.
