Dadasaheb Phalke Award to Anant Nag
नई दिल्ली। राष्ट्रपति द्रौपदी मुर्मु ने मंगलवार को गुजरात के एकता नगर में आयोजित समारोह में 72वें राष्ट्रीय फिल्म पुरस्कार (72nd National Film Awards) प्रदान किए और सभी पुरस्कार विजेताओं को उनकी प्रतिभा, समर्पण और कड़ी मेहनत के लिए बधाई दी। समारोह में अभिनेता अनंत नाग को वर्ष 2024 का दादासाहेब फाल्के पुरस्कार प्रदान किया गया। राष्ट्रपति ने कहा कि फिल्म निर्माण एक सामूहिक प्रयास है और पुरस्कार विजेताओं को उन सभी लोगों के योगदान को याद रखना चाहिए, जिनकी मेहनत से फिल्में संभव होती हैं।
Appeal to the film industry to give the message of healthy lifestyle
Citing the influence of popular artistes on children and youth, the President appealed to the film industry to promote a healthy and disciplined lifestyle. He urged successful artists to become a source of inspiration for the youth and not to advertise substances which are harmful to health. He said that Indian cinema expresses the country's diverse languages, traditions, aspirations and struggles.
Emphasis on social security of creative workers
The President stressed the need for respect and social security for small artists, assistants and struggling members of the creative economy. He also talked about ensuring participation of women in all juries. The President said that seeing the quality of films being made in the country, he is confident that Indian cinema can set new standards in front of the world.
Dadasaheb Phalke Award to Anant Nag
Anant Nag was honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award (72nd National Film Awards) for his long contribution to theater and cinema. While accepting the honour, he expressed his gratitude to the people who supported him in his long journey and the love he received from across the country.
The journey of acting started from theatre.
Recalling his early days, Anant Nag said that after spending his childhood in an ashram, he reached Mumbai, where he started acting in theatre. Before coming to films, he worked in about 50 plays. Later he got the opportunity to work with filmmakers like Shyam Benegal.
Chose Kannada cinema as my field of work
Ananth Nag told that he voluntarily chose Kannada cinema and made Bengaluru his workplace. He also expressed his gratitude for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, mentioning that he was honored with the Padma Bhushan by the President last year.
National Film Awards organized in Gujarat
The ceremony held in Gujarat added a new chapter to the tradition of the National Film Awards (72nd National Film Awards). Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat thanked the Information and Broadcasting Ministry for the initiative to organize the function outside Delhi. He said that it is a matter of pride for Gujarat to host the event in Ekta Nagar, associated with the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and the spirit of national unity.
Message of natural farming and environmental awareness through cinema
The Governor said that Indian cinema has played an important role in enriching the diverse languages and cultures of the country. He called upon filmmakers to use cinema to promote natural farming, healthy lifestyle and environmental awareness and strengthen the values of love, brotherhood and national unity.
Bhupendra Patel invites filmmakers to come to Gujarat
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, while welcoming the President and other distinguished guests, described hosting the National Film Awards ceremony in Ekta Nagar as a pride for the state. Describing cinema as a mirror of society and a carrier of culture, he said that it has the potential to strengthen India's global identity and cultural influence. He invited Indian and international filmmakers to choose Gujarat for shooting.
National Film Awards will be organized at tourist places
Congratulating the award winners, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that making the film is the result of the hard work of the entire team. The National Awards recognize the contributions of the artists who appear on screen as well as the technicians and other personnel working behind the scenes. He said that the objective of the National Film Awards is to take the ceremony to major tourist destinations in the states and union territories in future, so as to promote the cultural heritage and tourism of the country. He appealed to the States and Union Territories to propose their major tourist destinations for future celebrations.
Emphasis on creative technology and new talents
Ashwini Vaishnav underlined the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) as a big center of new skills. He said that about 380 students have enrolled in 13 courses designed as per the needs of the industry. He said that approval has been given to set up 15,000 creative labs across the country, which will provide opportunities to the youth to learn new technologies and spread Indian culture to the world through new mediums.
Appeal to explore talents of small towns
Vaishnav appealed to filmmakers and the film industry to cooperate in discovering, training and nurturing the hidden talents of small towns and cities. He said that with the joint efforts of the government and the creative world, India's creative potential can be enhanced and Indian talents can be made available to the global audience.
The next edition of Waves will take place in October 2027.
The Information and Broadcasting Minister also announced the organization of the next edition of Waves. He informed that Waves 2027 will be organized in October 2027 and for this, suggestions and ideas have been invited from the film and creative industry.
Entries of 400 feature films from 34 languages
Chanchal Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, said that entries of 400 feature films of 34 languages and 161 non-feature films of 24 languages were received for the 72nd National Film Awards. Awards were given in 22 feature film and 23 non-feature film categories. He said that Indian cinema is continuously flourishing as a powerful medium of cultural expression and global storytelling.
New tradition started from Ekta Nagar
Chanchal Kumar said that organizing the National Film Awards in Ekta Nagar outside Delhi is an important initiative. Linking it to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's vision of national unity, he said that it is envisaged to organize the function in other cities of the country in the coming years.
Mammootty and Kartik Aryan jointly awarded Best Actor Award
Mammootty for 'Brahmayugam' and Kartik Aryan for 'Chandu Champion' jointly received the Best Actor award at the 72nd National Film Awards. Yami Gautam was awarded the Best Actress Award for 'Article 370'.
Many actors were also honored in supporting roles
Sanjay Mishra received the Best Supporting Actor award for 'Bhakshak'. The Best Supporting Actress award was jointly given to Sachna Namidas for 'Maharaja' and Rupashree Varkadi for 'Mithya'.
Best Feature Film Award for 'Article 370'
'Article 370' received the Best Feature Film award. Randeep Hooda was honored for his first directorial film 'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar'. 'Kalki 2898 AD' was adjudged the best popular film providing overall entertainment, while 'Captain Miller' won the best feature film promoting national, social and environmental values. Rajkumar Periyasamy was given the Best Director award for 'Amaran'.
Recognition of regional languages on national platform
The National Film Awards also highlighted the linguistic diversity of Indian cinema. Apart from the languages included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, Garhwali and Tulu cinema also got respect at the national level.
Garhwali, Tulu and Santhali films honored
'Dholi' produced by SC Pharmachem Pvt Ltd and directed by Dinesh P. Bhonsle received the Best Garhwali Film award. 'Imbu', produced by Picture Studios and directed by Shivadhwaj Shetty, was adjudged the best Tulu film. Santhali film 'Aangen' directed by Ravi Raj Murmu was awarded the Best Debut Film of a Director.
Confluence of diverse languages and stories
The 72nd National Film Awards saw recognition of new talents and stories of regional cinema along with established artists. The festival held at Ekta Nagar presented the linguistic, cultural and creative diversity of Indian cinema on one platform.
