Patna. The problems of about 800 teachers working in government schools of Bihar may increase. The Education Department has prepared to start investigation of such teachers who are accused of pursuing higher education through regular mode without departmental permission while on the job.
Courses like PhD, MA, MSc, LLB and MEd are said to be involved in the case. The main concern of the department is that if a teacher is attending the university classes regularly, then how is his attendance in the school and the education of the children being ensured.
The Education Department has made it clear that teachers are not being stopped from increasing their qualifications. But it is important to study without affecting the responsibilities of the job and as per the prescribed rules. If allegations of being absent from school without permission or registering wrong attendance are proven, action can be taken.
During the investigation, job records of teachers, documents related to university admission and attendance can be matched. The teachers concerned may also be asked whether they had taken permission or leave from the department for higher education or not.
If violation of rules is confirmed, there is a possibility of action like suspension, stopping salary increase and ban on promotion. At the same time, to continue studies along with job, open and distance mode is considered a more convenient option.
Now everyone's eyes are on the investigation of the Education Department. Only after examining the records of about 800 teachers will it become clear in which cases the rules have been violated and against whom action will be taken.
