8th Pay Commission: Big demand of railway employees, voice raised for ₹ 69,000 minimum wage

8th Pay Commission: National Federation of Indian Railwaymen, the largest union of railway employees, has put forward a strong demand before the government. He says that the minimum salary should be directly increased to ₹ 69,000 in the 8th Pay Commission. Employees say that it has become difficult to run a household with the current salary.

It is difficult to run a household with the current salary

At present, the basic salary of railway employees is around ₹ 18,000, which reaches to around ₹ 30,000 including DA. But in the era of rising inflation, this much money is proving to be “worthless”. The employees clearly say that it is difficult to manage the family expenses, children’s education and medical expenses.

M. Raghavaiah raised his voice

NFIR General Secretary M. Raghavaiah said that railway employees work hard day and night, be it festivals or holidays – the duty always continues. Despite this, they are not getting salary according to their hard work. Therefore, the government should implement the 8th Pay Commission as soon as possible.

Number of employees decreased, work increased

According to NFIR, earlier there were about 17 lakh employees in Railways, which has now reduced to 12.5 lakh. At the same time, the number of trains and tracks has increased continuously. The direct effect of this is that less staff has been burdened with more work. The employees have demanded that new recruitment should also be started soon.
