8th Pay Commission: Inflation holiday! Employees will be excited after seeing the latest report on fitment factor.

New Delhi: A very good news is coming for lakhs of central government employees and pensioners. All eyes are now on the formation of the 8th Pay Commission and its recommendations. If the government accepts the latest demands of the employee organizations, then there will be a jump in the salaries of the peons working in government offices to the top IAS officers of the country which no one would have even imagined. It is being speculated that the minimum basic salary, which is currently Rs 18,000, may reach close to Rs 69,000 once the new system is implemented.

What is the whole matter of 3.83 fitment factor?

Recently, between 28th and 30th April, a very important meeting of the staff side of the National Council (JCM) was held in the country’s capital New Delhi. In this meeting, a big and concrete demand has been placed before the government. Employee unions argue that considering the pace at which inflation is increasing and the cost of living in big cities is skyrocketing, the old salary structure is now becoming very small. Therefore, now is the time to make a major change in the salary structure.

The key to this entire change lies with the ‘Fitment Factor’. In simple words, this is the magic number by which the new basic salary of any employee is determined by multiplying it. In the 7th Pay Commission it was 2.57. Now there is a demand that it should be increased to 3.83 in the 8th Pay Commission. If the government approves this, then the starting salary of Rs 18,000 will directly become ₹ 68,940. Retired employees will also benefit greatly because their pension will also increase on this basis.

From peon to clerk… whose salary will increase by how much?

If the formula of 3.83 is applied, then there will be a huge increase in the salary according to different pay levels. The basic pay of Level 1 employees, such as peons and attendants, will directly increase from Rs 18,000 to around Rs 69,000. At the same time, the salary of Level 2 Lower Division Clerk (LDC) will jump from Rs 19,900 to around Rs 76,000.

Talking about police constables and skilled employees (Level 3), their basic pay may increase from Rs 21,700 to Rs 83,000 and the salary of Level 4 stenographer or junior clerk may increase from Rs 25,500 to around Rs 97,000. For mid-level executives, it’s like a jackpot; The salary of Level 6 officers is estimated to reach Rs 1.35 lakh and the basic pay of Level 7 officers is estimated to reach Rs 1.72 lakh.

Bumper increase in the salaries of senior officers and IAS also

This trend of increasing salaries will not stop only at the lower or middle levels. The salaries of senior officers and top bureaucracy of the country will also reach a new record level. For example, the salary of Level 13 officers may increase from Rs 1.23 lakh to Rs 4.71 lakh. At the same time, the salary of the topmost post of the government i.e. Level 18, which is currently Rs 2.50 lakh, can directly reach close to Rs 9.57 lakh.
