Punjab Assembly: The Punjab Assembly on Monday passed nine important bills related to various sectors including education, infrastructure, taxes, employment, rural development and environment protection, paving the way to further strengthen the legislative and regulatory framework in the state.
The Punjab Common Infrastructure (Regulation and Maintenance) Amendment Bill, 2026, introduced by Cabinet Minister Aman Arora, was passed with a majority.
Bill related to fees of un-aided educational institutions passed unanimously
‘The Punjab Regulation of Fees of Un-Aided Educational Institutions (Amendment) Bill, 2026, introduced by Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, was passed unanimously.
Bills related to three universities also passed
Three bills related to universities were also passed by the House. These bills include Cloud University, Hoshiapur Bill, 2026, M.S. The Digital University, Patiala Bill, 2026 and the Physicswala Digital University, Patiala Bill, 2026 were introduced by Education Minister Shri Harjot Singh Bains and passed with majority.
Punjab GST Amendment Bill approved
The Punjab Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026, introduced by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, was passed with a majority.
Bill related to outsourced employees passed unanimously
The Punjab State Outsourced Personnel (Transition to Contractual Engagement) Bill, 2026, introduced by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, was passed unanimously.
Panchayati Raj Amendment Bill approved
The Punjab Panchayati Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2026, introduced by Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister Tarunpreet Singh Saund, was passed with a majority.
Bill related to protection of trees also passed
The Punjab Protection of Trees Bill, 2026, introduced by Forest and Wildlife Conservation Minister Lal Chand Kattaruchak, was also passed with a majority.
Bills will strengthen administration and development
