Bihar NDA government swearing in 2026: Samrat Chaudhary CM
The process of formation of new NDA government in Bihar has intensified. Samrat Chaudhary will take oath as CM and along with him two JDU leaders will take oath as Deputy CM. The swearing-in ceremony will be held in a simple manner at Lok Bhavan instead of Raj Bhavan, where Governor Syed Ata Hasnain will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers.
According to sources, the cabinet has been kept very limited in the initial phase, while the rest of the ministers will be expanded later. Meanwhile, the discussion on internal strategy in NDA regarding division of Deputy CM and departments is also intense.
Which leaders will get the chance to take initial oath?
According to sources, in the first phase, two senior JDU leaders will take oath along with Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary.

Both of them can be sworn in for the post of Deputy CM. Apart from this, other leaders of BJP and JDU as well as leaders of NDA’s allies – Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha and Rashtriya Lok Morcha will be given a place in the cabinet expansion later.
When will the cabinet expansion take place?
According to sources, after proving majority in the Assembly, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary will expand the cabinet. In this, all the allies of NDA will be given representation. Sources associated with BJP say that the party is planning cabinet expansion around May 4 (after the election results of various states). Till then the government will work with limited ministers and political balance will be maintained.
Why was the number of ministers kept so limited?
According to experts, the final consensus has not yet been reached on the division of departments and the number of ministerial posts in the NDA. This is the reason why the initial swearing-in has been kept very limited. Sources say that initial talks are going on between BJP and JDU on departments. Talks with allies will take place later. Senior JDU leader Vijay Kumar Chaudhary can also play an important role in the new government. He has been a close associate of Nitish Kumar for a long time. He served as the Speaker of the Bihar Assembly from 2015 to 2020 and during this time he modernized the functioning of the House by introducing the e-legislation system and digital processes. As Water Resources Minister, he also worked on many irrigation projects and flood management schemes.
According to political analysts, limited swearing-in and subsequent cabinet expansion is part of the NDA’s strategy. Its objective- to give balanced representation to all the allied parties, better distribution of departments, reducing political dissatisfaction, direction of the new government of Bihar. Development, administrative stability and coalition balance are expected from the new NDA government. Under the leadership of Samrat Chaudhary, the government can focus on creating a strong administrative structure in the initial phase.
