Chhattisgarh: Accident at Vedanta Power Plant in Sakti, 10 workers died due to boiler explosion, more than 50 injured.

Sakti (Chhattisgarh), 14 April. A horrific accident took place at the Vedanta Power Plant in Singhitarai in Sakti district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday afternoon, when at least 10 workers died when the plant’s boiler exploded. Around 50 workers were seriously injured.

According to the information received, four workers died on the spot in the accident. For better treatment of injured laborers, Fortis OP of Raigarh. Has been admitted to Jindal Hospital. Other laborers died during treatment. Some injured were also sent to Raigarh Medical College Hospital.

Top officers of the district administration and police are present at the spot. Rescue operation is being conducted on war footing at the incident site. However, the reason for the boiler blast was not revealed until the last news was received.

The explosion occurred around 2 pm

According to initial information, the explosion in the plant occurred at around 2 pm. At that time all the workers were working inside the plant. The sudden explosion created chaos in the entire premises and the employees started running here and there to save their lives. Relief and rescue operations were started immediately after the incident.

Collector and Superintendent of Police reached the spot

After the accident, Collector Amrit Vikas Topno and Superintendent of Police Prafulla Kumar Thakur immediately reached the spot and took stock of the situation. The Collector has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident. Instructions were issued to the concerned departments to thoroughly investigate every aspect of the accident and submit a detailed report soon.

The administration team became active immediately

Collector Amrit Vikas Topno said – ‘As soon as information about the incident was received, the entire administration team became active. The injured have been safely taken to the hospital on priority basis. The best treatment is being provided to everyone. Superintendent of Police Prafulla Kumar Thakur said that relief and rescue work is going on. The injured were quickly rushed to the hospital and the situation is being continuously monitored.

State government gave instructions for investigation

Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Labor Minister Lakhanlal Dewangan has said that action will be taken against the culprits under labor law and the government will also give compensation to the injured and the dead. He has given instructions for a magisterial inquiry into the matter.

CM Sai said – will take strict action against the culprits

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai expressed grief over the accident. He said, ‘The incident is tragic, our full condolences to the families of the deceased and the injured in this hour of grief. Necessary guidelines have been given to the district administration for better treatment of the injured. A thorough and impartial investigation of the incident will be ensured, strictest action will be taken against whoever is found guilty.

Leader of Opposition Dr. Mahant also talked to the officers

After the accident, regional MLA and leader of opposition Dr. Charan Das Mahant also discussed the situation with the district collector and SP over phone and inquired about the situation. He wrote on social media ‘X’, ‘The recent incident that took place at the Vedanta plant in Sakti district is extremely unfortunate. Seeing the seriousness of the incident, I immediately discussed the situation with the Collector and SP of Sakti district over phone and got information about the situation.

Dr. Mahant said that strict instructions have been given to the administration. He has demanded to provide prompt and best treatment to the injured, ensure high level and impartial investigation of the incident and immediate assistance to the affected families.
