News India Live, Digital Desk: Once again a fierce battle has erupted in the politics of West Bengal over religion and songs. A video of TMC MP and youth leader Saayoni Ghosh is becoming increasingly viral on social media, in which she is seen singing the song ‘Mere Dil Mein Kaaba, Mere Dil Mein Madina’. While on one hand this style of Sayoni has created a stir in the political circles, on the other hand the Muslim religious leaders have opened a front against the Mamata government. Viral video of Sayoni Ghosh and sparked controversy. In this video going viral on social media, Sayoni Ghosh is seen humming lyrics related to Islamic faith from the stage during a public meeting or program. BJP and other opposition parties have called it the peak of ‘appeasement politics’. Critics say that as the elections approach, TMC leaders are trying to polarize votes by taking advantage of religious sentiments. However, TMC supporters say that this was only a way to give the message of equality of all religions. Religious leader’s big announcement: ‘Will take revenge of 370 from Mamta’ Amidst this entire controversy, the statement of a prominent Muslim religious leader of Bengal is adding fuel to the fire. The religious leader termed Sayoni’s move as just a show off. He said in a sharp tone that the hearts of the Muslim community cannot be won just by singing songs. Referring to Article 370, the religious leader said, “We will take revenge of 370 from Mamata Banerjee.” He alleged that TMC has used Muslims only as a vote bank and has always kept the community in the dark on real issues. This statement of the new religious leader in Bengal on Article 370 has surprised even political analysts. Usually the issue of Article 370 is seen to be linked to the Central Government and Kashmir, but the religious leader of Bengal linking it to Mamata Banerjee points towards a new political strategy. BJP seized this opportunity and said that now Mamata Banerjee’s own vote bank is also slipping away from her. Party leaders claim that the people of Bengal have now understood both ‘soft Hindutva’ and ‘sham Islam’ of TMC. Will this controversy weigh heavily in the 2026 elections? The chessboard for the 2026 assembly elections has started in West Bengal. Sayoni Ghosh’s songs and the anger of religious leaders have made it clear that religious issues will become more heated in the times to come. The challenge for TMC is to keep the Hindu voters loyal on one hand and on the other hand to stop the dent in its Muslim vote bank, considered its strongest. At present, the echo of Sayoni Ghosh’s song is being heard from Delhi to Kolkata.
