stylish design
The teaser shows a very aggressive and stylish design of the front of the car, which is inspired by the 2023 Nissan Hyper Force Concept. It has vertical daytime running lights, which surround the inner headlights. The bonnet of the car is quite sharp and embossed, with a strong line (crease) in the middle, which gives it a more sporty look.

modern identity
It now has a new “S” logo on the front of the bonnet in place of the traditional Nishan logo, which points towards the new and modern identity of this iconic car.

three-box
Meanwhile, the second teaser shows off distinctive quad tail-lamps – a design element heavily associated with the GT-R – as well as ‘Skyline’ branding in Classic Typeface on the rear fender. Its flat side paneling also looks quite retro-inspired, as do its three-box proportions.

sporty coupe body style
Could the new Nissan Skyline form the basis of the R36 GT-R? By the time the R35 GT-R arrived, the names Skyline and GT-R were pretty much intertwined. Originally ‘GT-R’ referred to the performance variant of the previous Skyline generation, but in a desire to create a distinct identity and adopt a sportier coupe body style, the R35 GT-R dropped the Skyline name.

sporty model
Nissan recently confirmed that the R36 GT-R will be launched later this decade, but did not say whether the performance car will be based on the next-generation Skyline. So, while its historical underpinnings are still there, the R36 GT-R could end up being a sportier (and a different model) than the next-generation Skyline, following in the same direction as the R35.
