Israel’s strict warning on Iran: ‘Mission still pending’, big statement of Mossad chief
New Delhi: Amidst the increasing tension between Israel and Iran, David Barnia, the head of Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, has once again adopted a tough stance. He said in clear words that Israel’s campaign against Iran is not over yet and its goal is still incomplete.
This statement of Barnia has created a stir at the international level, because he has directly talked about removing the current regime of Iran. His statement has come at a time when the situation remains extremely sensitive after the recent military activities in the area.
‘The mission is not accomplished yet’
In his address, the Mossad chief said, "Our mission is not yet complete. Our responsibility will be fulfilled only when this extremist regime is replaced by some other regime. This regime, which wants our destruction, must be wiped out from the world."
He also indicated that Israel was already aware that Iran’s current regime could not be completely eliminated by military strikes alone.
Israel’s stance and covert operations
Although Barnia did not clarify what kind of strategy the Mossad will adopt going forward, it is well known that Israel has been carrying out covert operations inside Iran for a long time.
It is considered highly unusual for the Mossad to openly talk about ‘regime change’, which indicates that Israel still considers Iran a major threat.
Military action and current situation
Earlier, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had claimed that through the recent air strikes, the threats related to Iran’s ballistic missile and nuclear programs have been eliminated to a great extent.
Despite this, the statement of the Mossad chief indicates that Israel still does not consider the situation completely under control.
International tension may increase
Experts believe that this statement may affect the ongoing talks between America and Iran. Both the countries are currently making efforts towards carrying forward the ceasefire and towards a permanent solution, but such statements are likely to further increase the tension.
Hints at the strategy behind the scenes
According to reports, in a meeting held at the White House in January, Barnia suggested that the Mossad was capable of energizing the opposition within Iran, spreading unrest and taking steps that could weaken the government.
