Devastation of extreme heat: Increase in stomach diseases, adopt necessary precautions to stay healthy.

With the increasing heat across the country, an increase in stomach related problems is also being seen. Due to strong sunlight, irregular eating habits and lack of water, people are facing problems like gas, indigestion, acidity, diarrhea and vomiting. In such a situation, health experts are advising all people to be cautious and adopt right eating habits.

According to doctors, food spoils quickly during the summer season, due to which the risk of food poisoning increases. By consuming food items available openly on the roadside, bacteria enter the body and cause stomach infection. Apart from this, drinking less water causes dehydration, which can make stomach problems more serious.

Experts say that in this season one should eat light, fresh and easily digestible food. It is important to stay away from spicy, fried and stale food. Consumption of curd, buttermilk, coconut water, lemon water and seasonal fruits not only cools the body but also strengthens the digestive system.

Important tips to avoid stomach problems in summer:

  • Drink adequate amount of water throughout the day (at least 8–10 glasses)
  • Avoid eating open and stale food from outside
  • Wash hands thoroughly before and after eating
  • Avoid too spicy and oily food
  • Include curd, buttermilk and light food in your diet.
  • Do not remain hungry for long, eat food on time
  • Avoid cut fruits or open juices

Children and the elderly need special care in this season. If someone has persistent diarrhea, vomiting, severe stomach pain or fever, one should immediately contact a doctor.

Health experts believe that by taking a little caution and adopting right eating habits, stomach problems can be easily avoided during the summer season.
