US returns Iranian cargo ship trying to get out of Bandar Abbas

New Delhi. The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that USS Spruance forced an Iranian-flagged cargo ship to return to Iran. This is the latest action taken as part of the ongoing naval blockade of the region. In a post on Twitter, CENTCOM said the incident occurred when the ship tried to evade restrictions in place since the blockade began earlier this week.

“Yesterday, an Iranian-flagged cargo ship attempted to evade the US blockade after leaving Bandar Abbas, passing through the Strait of Hormuz and proceeding along the Iranian coastline,” the statement said. The guided-missile destroyer successfully diverted the ship, which is now headed back toward Iran. CENTCOM further explained how much strictness has been exercised since the start of the operation. Let us tell you that today is the third day of the blockade. For this reason many merchant ships have been turned back. The US military claims that they have complete control over maritime traffic in and out of Iranian ports. The purpose of this blockade is to isolate Iran’s economy by cutting off its main maritime trade routes. According to official military messages, the US military is maintaining a high level of readiness to ensure full compliance with this ban.

This tension has increased to a critical point. On one hand, President Trump has indicated that a major agreement may be reached soon. On the other hand, the presence of heavy naval equipment in the Gulf of Oman shows that America is ready to maintain pressure till then. Until a firm agreement is reached. The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced earlier today that a complete blockade of Iran’s ports has been successfully implemented. US forces maintain maritime stranglehold on the region’s key waterways, particularly the Strait of Hormuz.
