Women in campaigns like ‘Gangstron Te War’

Faridkot SSP Pragya Jain said that the basis of modern policing is not gender, but capability and coordination. Women officers are making important contributions at every level of operation. He said, “According to me, policing is based on courage, capability and commitment, not on gender. In operations like ‘Gangstran Te War’, women officers have demonstrated excellent performance of all three. Anti-gangster operations show that modern policing is based on intelligence and collective leadership.”

Important intelligence from women

Faridkot SSP said, “Women officers lead from the frontline in the planning and execution stages. In one particular case, during a late night operation targeting a habitual offender network, our women PCR team gathered vital local intelligence from the women of the area, which is often challenging for male teams. Based on the same information, it was possible to make arrests directly the next morning.”

Bringing women officers into the mainstream

Referring to the challenges, he said, “We conduct evidence-based inquiries and remain calm even under mental pressure, which leads to success. Asymmetry of information and time sensitivity are big challenges. Diverse leadership styles are essential in policing today. Mainstreaming women officers, training them and deploying them in various operational roles reflects institutional maturity.

Equal opportunity to bring change at the grassroots level

The SSP said, “Policing is ultimately an act of service and accountability. Be it male or female, every officer has the same responsibility. My endeavor in Faridkot has been to create a police force where every officer gets equal opportunity to lead, contribute and bring change at the grassroots level.”

Punjab Police’s swift action

Remarkable results have been seen in the action of Punjab Police under ‘Gangstran Te War’. Since the beginning of the operation, the police force has conducted 59,015 raids at identified locations linked to gangster associates across the state and made 21,154 arrests. During this period, police teams have also arrested 888 declared criminals.

Targeted and strict action continues

Faridkot Range IGP ‘Nilambari Jagdale’ said that the aim of this campaign is to root out crime. “With a strong determination to root out gangsterism, drug trafficking and organized crime, under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and directions of Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, the teams are taking sustained targeted and stringent action against gangsters, their associates, relatives, anti-social elements, drug smugglers and organized criminal gangs across the state.”

‘Operation Prahar 1.0’ and ‘Operation Prahar 2.0’ launched

He said, “The main objective of this operation is to root out the criminal networks, completely destroy their activities and strengthen the sense of security among the general public. In this sequence, ‘Operation Prahar 1.0’ and ‘Operation Prahar 2.0’ were launched.

Excellent work in coordination with women officers

He stressed that leadership and courage are not related to gender. He further said, “Be it a man or a woman, leadership ability, planning and courage do not depend on any gender. I believe that the women officers are doing an excellent job in coordination and the Punjab Police personnel have excellent skills.

Victims and witnesses trust female officers and never hesitate to share their problems. Under ‘Gangstran Te War’ we have handled various cases and the challenges are different every time. We always have to work one step ahead of the criminals.

positive sign of progressive state

Sometimes criminals use densely populated areas to protect the public, but we have to be proactive and work with full diligence to stop them from committing crimes. Nowadays gangsters are also using modern technology, and this is the area where we have further strengthened our teams. A balanced mix of male and female police force is a positive sign of a progressive state. It is also inspiring for the youth, which is important to promote community policing.”

Use of advanced analysis of IP data

These operations have also exposed and disrupted the financial and logistics structures of organized crime networks. Using advanced analysis of call detail records, tower dumps and IP data, Punjab Police has conducted targeted raids on gangsters and their associate networks, ensuring comprehensive verification and intelligence-based action.

Strong grassroots impact

SSP Khanna Dr. Darpan Ahluwalia said community participation is important in strengthening policing outcomes. He said, “Under ‘GangStrong War’, Khanna Police is strengthening community participation as a core strategy. Though it is often called ‘soft policing’, this approach has shown strong impact at the ground level, especially in the identified hotspot areas where action has been taken in conjunction with the civil administration.

The fight against crime is a collective struggle

Through ‘Ghar-Ghar Sampark Campaign’ our teams are directly connecting with the citizens without uniform, in civil clothes. They are going door to door, listening to people’s complaints and collecting vital human intelligence. The fight against crime is a collective struggle, which cannot be won by the police alone, but only with the active cooperation of the people of Punjab.”

Arrests under Operation Prahar

The arrests made under Operation Prahar have been systematically classified into the categories of associates, relatives and unidentified persons. These have been further divided into A+, A and B categories to ensure structured surveillance of criminals and further strengthen preventive detention, interrogation and enforcement strategies across Punjab.
