This comment of actress Sonal Chauhan has come at a time when the special session of Parliament is about to begin. Women’s Reservation Bill is expected to be specifically discussed in this session. The special session of the Parliament of the Central Government is scheduled to be held from 16 to 18 April. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had described this session as an important opportunity and said that India is going to take a historic step towards women empowerment. While posting on X, PM Modi said that in the special session of Parliament starting from today, our country is fully prepared to take a historic step towards women empowerment. Honoring our mothers and sisters is the honor of the country and with this spirit we are moving forward in this direction with full determination. However, this proposal has also been criticized by the opposition. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said that Congress, while supporting reservation for women, will not allow the government to steal the share of representation from Other Backward Classes (OBC), Dalit and Tribal communities. He termed this move of NDA as anti-national. In a post on Twitter, Rahul Gandhi said that Congress supports reservation for women without any conditions, but the government should do the delimitation only on the basis of 2026 census, which is currently underway. He also said that before bringing any such law, caste census data should also be considered.
