Yash reveals how ‘Toxic’ helped him land Ravana role in ‘Ramayan’

Yash has been doing promotional work for his upcoming movie Ramayana at CinemaCon in Los Angeles.

The actor and his producer Namit Malhotra have been promoting their film through special previews while they conducted multiple interviews.

Yash explained through a discussion that he received the role of Ravana in Ramayana because of his previous work with producer Malhotra on Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups which they both worked on together.

Revealing how his gangster film helped him land a role in the epic two part saga he shared with Fandango, “I just wanted to take his (Namit Mahotra) company’s advice and wanted to put out something magnanimous and also a great visual experience for the audience around the world. So that’s when we met and that turned into Ramayana but I should tell you that Namit and DENEG have been a major part in Toxic as well.”

Malhotra who is backing Ramayana elaborated on the decision to cast Yash as the antagonist.

“Yas has been very understated in how he presents the character that he has played. I think there’s nobody better than him to bring that flair and energy to the screen, and that’s what the world will watch and be incredibly enthusiastic about. One of the places from where I got excited was when I heard the narration of the script and what really established itself very interestingly was ‘What did Ravan do that Ram had to come into the world and resolve that?’ I’d love people to discover that in the film.”

He went on to add, “Like I’ve said, everyone knows and has seen it many many times, but the way he has played Ravan and Ranbir has played Ram, will be really exciting for the world at large to experience it.”

Yash explained the film Toxic as a project that combines his personal interests with international elements.

He shared during a candid interview, “Toxic is a very ambitious project. I believe that the audience has given me success not to celebrate and have fun. Maybe I always feel that I need to create something better because people give me success. The people of India have shown me their love and support which leads me to take our stories and cinema to international audiences. Most of us are working towards it. Toxic is one such example we shot it in English so that people can understand or to easily communicate our stories better. The film features extensive action sequences but it contains multiple intricate details. The film presents itself as a traditional gangster movie but it uses deeper symbolic meaning. The film reveals much greater knowledge about its content beyond what exists in its basic form. “

The actor shared his discovery of the Diwali release date for Ramayana and its possibility of worldwide theater distribution beginning in late October during his multiple American media interviews.
