Congress action against those who rebelled in Haryana Rajya Sabha elections, 5 MLAs suspended
In the Rajya Sabha elections held in Haryana, many Congress MLAs had violated the party’s whip. Now Congress has taken action against these MLAs and they have been suspended from the primary membership of the party. During the Rajya Sabha elections, it was seen that many MLAs had cross-voted. It was a matter of relief for the Congress that Congress candidate Karambir Buddh had won the elections by a small margin. Even at that time, Congress had talked about taking action in this matter. Initially only 4 MLAs were being named but now action has been taken against 5.
In the letter issued by Haryana Congress President Rao Narendra, it has been written that this action has been taken on the recommendation of the State Disciplinary Committee and the recommendation of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. They are accused of violating the discipline of the organization, hence all five have been suspended from the primary membership of the party.

What happened in the Rajya Sabha elections?
Rajya Sabha elections were held on two seats in Haryana. Apart from one candidate each from Congress and BJP, BJP leader Satish Nandal had made the matter exciting by filing nomination as an independent candidate. BJP’s Sanjay Bhatia had easily won his election but there was a thrilling contest between Congress’s Karambir Boudh and Satish Nandal. The reason for this was that some Congress MLAs had cross-voted.

88 out of 90 MLAs of Haryana had cast their votes and the votes of five MLAs were cancelled. It is being said that the MLAs whose votes were canceled included four from Congress and one from BJP. In this way the total number of valid votes left was 83. BJP’s Sanjay Bhatia got 39 first preference votes and won the election easily.
Karambir Boudh got a total of 28 votes which was 0.34 more than the quota for victory. At the same time, Satish Nandal had a total of 16 votes. Now it is worth noting here that BJP had 48 MLAs. One vote was canceled and Sanjay Bhatia got 39 votes and the remaining 47 votes were left. Karambir Boudh got only 28 votes out of 37 from Congress. 5 cross-voted and 4 were rejected.
Despite the victory, Congress immediately started investigating the matter. Haryana Congress in-charge BK Hariprasad had said in a press conference at that time that action would be taken against those doing cross voting.
