Delhi AQI News: The air quality in the national capital Delhi has once again started deteriorating. In the review meeting held today, the GRAP sub-committee took information about the situation. The committee found that due to the weather, the level of air pollution in the capital region is gradually increasing. AQI 226 was recorded in Delhi on 16 April. It is considered to be of poor category in air pollution. Due to increasing air pollution level, GRAP Stage-1 was implemented in entire Delhi-NCR.
Let us tell you that the Air Quality Management Commission (CAQM) made this new schedule of GRAP on the instructions of the Supreme Court. According to this, the first stage of GRAP is implemented when the air pollution level is between 201-300 AQI. The current AQI range has come in Stage-1 of GRAP. Therefore it has been implemented. All concerned agencies will now enforce these rules and maintain monitoring. So that the pollution level remains under control.
Stage-1 of GRAP implemented in the city
When Stage-1 of GRAP is implemented, cleanliness of roads will be increased and water sprinkling will also be done so that dust can be reduced. During this period, construction work will be banned in the city. Those sites will be continuously monitored. So that dust can be controlled. Meanwhile, there will be a complete ban on burning garbage, leaves or other things in the open.
Appeal to people for cooperation
The administration has appealed to the people for cooperation to control the pollution level, so that the situation remains under control. Meanwhile, the team of Air Quality Management Commission will continuously monitor the situation and further decisions will be taken based on the forecast of the Meteorological Department and other agencies. Even after all this, if pollution continues to increase, then the next phase of GRAP can be implemented.

What is GRAP scheme?
Let us tell you that GRAP (Graded Response Action Plan) is a scheme implemented in Delhi. It is implemented by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to control air pollution in Delhi-NCR. It is implemented in a phased manner when the air quality is poor. It has four stages. Which is implemented in a phased manner at different levels of AQI.
Its four stages are as follows-
- Stage-1 (Poor) – When AQI is between 201-300,
- Stage-2 (Very Poor) – When AQI is 301-400,
- Stage-3 (Severe) – When AQI is between 401-450,
- Stage-4 (Very Severe) – When AQI goes above 450
