Big disclosure: Nida Khan was on the post of telecaller, not HR in TCS
Nashik: New revelations have come to light in the alleged sexual scandal and forced religious conversion racket related to TCS unit based in Nashik. According to sources, the information revealed about absconding Nida Khan is different from before, due to which confusion had arisen regarding her status.
According to media reports, Nida Khan, who was said to be the Human Resources (HR) head at TCS Nashik unit, was actually working as a telecaller in the company.
Female employees aged between 18 to 25 years were targeted
This matter has created concern across the country. According to the complaints, the accused worked like an organized gang and specifically targeted female employees aged between 18 to 25 years.
A total of nine FIRs have been registered so far, including the complaint of a male employee. He has alleged religious persecution and attempts to force conversion.
Serious allegations in complaints
Many serious allegations have been made in the complaints, which include insulting Hindu deities, forcing non-vegetarian food, creating religious pressure and forcing to follow particular religious traditions.
Eight accused arrested
So far eight people have been arrested in this case. These include seven men – Danish Sheikh, Tausif Attar, Raza Memon, Shahrukh Qureshi, Shafi Sheikh, Asif Aftab Ansari and Shahrukh Sheikh and one woman.
Allegations of harassment by misuse of position
According to the police, some of the arrested accused were working in high positions in the company and misused their position to harass their colleagues.
An officer alleged that Nida Khan prevented a female employee from filing a complaint by saying that "things like this happen".
Situation clear regarding office operations
Earlier it was reported that the work of the unit has been temporarily stopped and the employees have been instructed to work from home.
However, according to sources the office remained open normally on Thursday and around 60 employees attended work. The office has neither been sealed nor closed. Employees have been given the option to work from home or office.
Company’s stand on increase in sexual harassment complaints
When questioned over the increase in sexual harassment complaints in TCS’s annual reports since 2021, sources said the increase is a result of improvements in the company’s internal systems and processes.
The steps taken to ensure a safe environment, especially for women employees, have increased awareness and the tendency to lodge complaints under the POSH framework.
Trust in complaint system has increased
Sources say that this trend does not indicate an increase in incidents, rather it reflects increasing confidence in the grievance redressal system and availability of better reporting channels.
He also said that due to awareness programs and employee training, internal systems have been strengthened, due to which employees are feeling more comfortable in raising their problems formally.
